John Lyerly Joins Community Hospice as Strategy Lead

JACKSONVILLE, Fla – Community Hospice of Northeast Florida has appointed John Lyerly as senior vice president of strategy. Lyerly has more than 16 years’ experience in the health care industry leading strategic planning and business development initiatives.

In his new role, Lyerly is responsible for directing all efforts related to the development and implementation of the Community Hospice strategic plan to ensure long-term growth and sustainability. Lyerly is accountable for developing new market initiatives, assessing emerging business opportunities and overseeing the organization’s performance metrics system.

“We recognize that the health care market continues to present opportunities and challenges for providers during this period of evolution and reform,” said Phillip Ward, chief operating officer at Community Hospice. “John’s strategic planning and health care consulting expertise will significantly benefit Community Hospice as we continue to grow and provide care for those who need us in the Northeast Florida community.”

Before joining Community Hospice, Lyerly worked locally for St. Vincent’s HealthCare as its system director of strategic planning and business development. He was responsible for the multi-hospital health system’s strategic plan including the assessment of capital needs and financial analysis. He also led efforts to identify new physician locations based on market demographics including the successful development of a certificate of need for a new acute care hospital. John also held a leadership role in KPMG’s health care advisory practice.

Lyerly earned a Master of Health Administration from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from the University of Alabama.
