Announcement: New St. Johns Volunteers! Board of Directors
Selected to Lead the Mission
Saint Augustine, FL – March 5, 2018 – Today, St. Johns Volunteers!, Inc. (SJVI) would like to announce the newly elected board of directors and officers selected to lead the private non-profit 501(c)3 organization in 2018. St. Johns Volunteers! was established in 2015 and its mission, as the primary community connection point for volunteerism, is to match the efforts of people and resources to enrich the quality of life in St. Johns County, Florida.
Working directly with non-profit agencies across the County, St. Johns Volunteers! connects their over 525-person volunteer database to assist impactful organizations with their life-changing efforts. Examples include coordinating Meals on Wheels volunteers through the Council on Aging, Caregiver Coaches for Community Hospice & Palliative Care, Math and Reading tutors for the R.S.V.P. program, adult literacy tutors for the St. Johns County Learn to Read program, auxiliary volunteers at Flagler Hospital and special event volunteers for non-profit fundraising events throughout the year.
To continue the community-enhancing efforts of St. Johns Volunteers!, Susan Ponder-Stansel, President and CEO of Community Hospice & Palliative Care, was elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors. Chris Schmidt, Vice President of Quality and Experience of Flagler Hospital, will serve as Vice Chair. Victor Raymos, Association Executive and CEO of the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Board of Realtors, was selected as Treasurer. Allan Silberman, a St. Johns County community volunteer, will serve as Secretary. Katherine Batenhorst, Speech-Language Pathologist, St. Johns County School District, was elected as a new member of the Board of Directors.
“St. Johns Volunteers! was developed to serve as a community resource connecting local talent with local needs,” stated Carol Saviak, Executive Director of St. Johns Volunteers!, “We are excited to have such a talented group of business leaders and community volunteers guiding the expansion of our programs and services in 2018.”
St. Johns Volunteers! Board of Directors for 2018 will also include Tony Bernados, Publisher of The St. Augustine Record; Suzanne Brown, Regional Manager & Senior Vice President of Fidelity Bank; Aaron Johnson, Vice President of Sales Engineering, The NOC; Chad Mark, Vice President of Procurement & Technology, Advanced Disposal; and Karen Selig, CEO and Founder, Consultants for Change.
