Three Local Dogs Are Eager To Take Part In Therapy
By Fernandina Observer
Jacksonville, FL (Feb. 4, 2020) – Anja, Chloe’, and Molly are in the “interview” phase for becoming Community Hospice & Palliative Therapy Pets. After the three dogs become registered with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, the compassionate canines will visit patients at Community Hospice inpatient centers as well as the homes of the patients.
Studies have shown that therapy animals help lower a patient’s blood pressure and decrease stress. “It’s absolutely heart-lifting to see how these amazing dogs and cats bring comfort and smiles to our patients and their families,” said Betsy Miller, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, Community Hospice & Palliative Care.
