Patient & Family Volunteers
Visit our adult and pediatric patients where they receive care. You may choose to spend quality time reading with them, taking walks, writing letters, or simply enjoying conversations with them. Volunteers give family caregivers the time to run personal errands or take some quality respite time away from their day-to-day duties. Patient visits usually last two hours or less and are requested weekly. We provide specialized training.
Pet Peace of Mind
Our pet program ensures that the pets of our Community Hospice & Palliative Care patients have their needs met with the same loving care their families provide. Our volunteers walk dogs, provide waste clean-up, feed pets, and provide transportation to veterinary visits or groomers. This is a flexible opportunity. We provide specialized training.
Veteran Volunteers
These volunteers represent Community Hospice & Palliative Care at various veterans-related events. Some visit and capture stories from area veterans, while others visit our patients who have served in the military. Veteran volunteers visit patients at Community Hospice & Palliative Care inpatient centers -- or wherever they call home. We provide specialized training.
Clerical Volunteers
We depend on volunteers to assist with administrative duties and special projects. Those with clerical experience can assist with filing and data entry in one of office settings or Care for Caring. Volunteer administrative opportunities are available throughout our service area. We provide specialized training and assignments are temporary and flexible.
Front Desk Volunteers
Our front desk volunteers assist our patients and staff by greeting visitors at our various Centers for Caring locations. They also assist in clerical work such as filing, answering phones, and assisting vendors and deliveries. Set schedules are required for this position.
Creative Hearts Volunteers
Creative HeARTs is a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance the lives of our patients, families, volunteers, staff, and organization as a whole through multiple forms of art. Our volunteers create beautiful items such as quilts, lap blankets, pillows, and cards. All creative donations are given to patients in or care.
Pet Therapy
Since 1996, registered pet therapy teams have played an integral role on Community Hospice & Palliative Care care teams, providing benefits to patients such as reduced stress, increased sensory stimulation, and relief from pain. We provide specialized training.
