Volunteer Opportunities

Since 1996, registered pet therapy teams have played an integral role on Community Hospice & ...
Palliative Care care teams, providing benefits to patients such as reduced stress, increased sensory stimulation and relief from pain.
Our Pet Therapy program is one more way Community Hospice & Palliative Care brings comfort and compassion to patients and families. Our pet therapy teams visit patients at Community Hospice & Palliative Care inpatient centers — or wherever they call home.

Administrative
We depend on volunteers to assist with administrative duties and special project work.
Those with clerical skills and interests can assist with filing, data entry, greeting visitors at our Centers for Caring locations. Volunteer administrative opportunities are available throughout our service area.

Patient and
Family Support

Volunteers give family caregivers an opportunity to run personal errands or take some quality respite time away from their day-to-day duties. Patient visits usually last two hours or less. We provide specialized training.

Bereavement
Outreach
The bereavement outreach volunteers contact family members by telephone to offer follow-up support ...
and information about Community Hospice & Palliative Care bereavement services, such as individual and family counseling, therapeutic support groups, workshops and grief services for children and teenagers. Bereavement volunteers work under the supervision of a volunteer coordinator and a bereavement services staff member.

Public Outreach, Special Events and Fundraising
Our Ambassadors represent Community Hospice & Palliative Care at various public events, such as ...
health fairs and senior center gatherings. They present information and help educate the audience about the range of services and benefits we offer.
Volunteers can assist with a variety of events designed to support the fundraising efforts of Community Hospice & Palliative Care Foundation. There are fundraising events throughout the year, and we depend on volunteer support for our success.

Spiritual Care
Under the supervision of a Community Hospice & Palliative Care chaplain, volunteers offer ...
supplemental spiritual support to patients and their caregivers. Spiritual care volunteers must accumulate hours as a patient/family volunteer before applying to become a spiritual care volunteer. Specialized training in the Community Hospice & Palliative Care approach to spiritual care is required.
These volunteers represent Community Hospice & Palliative Care at various veterans-related events.
Some visit and capture stories from area veterans, while others visit our patients who have served in the military.
